Who we are

Karavan ("the App", "we", "us") is a Shopify application that helps merchants sell to Eastern Europe and Central Asia by displaying duty estimates and delivery guidance at checkout. Contact: a.gorodnyy1@gmail.com

What data we collect

When a merchant installs the App, we access the following data from their Shopify store through the Shopify API:

• Store information: shop domain, shop name, shop owner email, plan type
• Orders: shipping address country code, order total, line item details — used to apply country-specific duty and shipping guidance
• Markets and shipping configuration: used to render correct checkout copy per destination country
• Checkout sessions: delivery country selected by the buyer — used to trigger the checkout guidance extension

We do not collect payment card information. We do not store personally identifiable information about end customers (buyers) beyond the shipping country code required to apply checkout guidance.

How we use this data

We use collected data exclusively to:

• Display duty estimates and delivery time guidance to buyers at checkout
• Allow merchants to configure country-specific shipping rates and duty copy
• Operate the compliance and onboarding features within the App admin panel
• Improve the App's functionality and fix bugs

We do not sell, rent, or share merchant or buyer data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Data storage and security

Store configuration data (enabled countries, shipping rules, duty copy) is stored on secure servers. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We retain configuration data for as long as the App is installed on your store.

Data deletion

When a merchant uninstalls the App, all shop-specific configuration data is deleted from our servers within 48 hours. We respond to Shopify's mandatory privacy webhooks:

• customers/data_request: We provide any buyer data held upon request
• customers/redact: We delete buyer data upon request
• shop/redact: We delete all shop data within 30 days of uninstall

Merchant rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Contact us at a.gorodnyy1@gmail.com to exercise these rights.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will notify merchants of material changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
